The established International Renewable Energy Storage Conference presents the latest research results and development experience for renewable energy storage. Presenters analyze and discuss the applicability and need for storage in the power, heating and transport and mobility sectors. The latest technological improvements as well as the framework conditions for the use and integration of energy storage systems are explored, while particular attention is given to the applicability in decentralized energy supply systems.

From 14 till 16 March 2017 the 11th International Renewable Energy Storage Conference (IRES 2017) will take place together with the Energy Storage Europe (conference + expo) in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Key reasons to visit the conference

IRES Pic Plus LEARN about the latest research and most recent energy storage developments
IRES Pic Plus MEET more than 120 lecturers from renowned research institutes and universities
IRES Pic Plus CONNECT with representatives from established companies and innovative start-ups
IRES Pic Plus NETWORK with conference guest from all over the world
IRES Pic Plus DISCUSS your questions and ideas with high-ranking experts from science, industry and politics

A three-day program packed with presentations, discussions, talks, exhibitions and poster talks. By connecting two topics and target groups more input, more knowledge, more contacts are guaranteed.

Meet established companies and enthusiastic entrepreneurs to discover their solutions to store energy. Access to the exhibition is included in the conference ticket.

The networking party on 15 March has quickly become the central meeting point to connect outside of the conference halls. This year, we offer to evening passes to attend the party only. This way, you can bring your partners, colleagues and friends. The access to the networking event is included in the three-day-tickets and the day pass for 15 March.

Call for Abstracts

The International Renewable Energy Storage Conference (IRES) focuses on the scientific research on storage technology. You are cordially invited to submit an abstract to be considered for presentation at the 2017 conference. Papers may be presented in parallel sessions (“oral presentations”) or the poster exhibition (“poster presentation”).

For 2017, all abstracts will be handed in via the online tool called CONFTOOL. Please create and account and submit your abstract via More information on the Call for Abstracts:

Conference Program

Tuesday, 14 March
The celebratory opening gives insights on the two conference foci "business and finance" and "research and policy". A panel with storage experts and politicians discusses the necessity for storage technologies in Germany and the world.

Wednesday, 15 March
The IRES-sessions present the latest technological developments, research projects and key findings for the storage of renewable energy. The ESE-sessions feature business cases and financial aspects for the energy storage industry.

Thursday, 16 March 2017
More parallel sessions allow the audience to dive deeper into the conference topics. In the afternoon, a celebratory closing summarizes the core content of the sessions. This way, all participants are equally informed.

The full conference program - including all sessions with an overview of presentations - will be made available online in the beginning of December.
