EUROSOLAR works for the rapid and complete removal of nuclear and fossil energies through renewable energies. Support our voice for a dynamic and decentralized energy supply with your membership.
On August 22, 1988 Hermann Scheer founded EUROSOLAR together with about a hundred supporters. Today we celebrate the 28th anniversary of the European Association of Renewable Energy and use this opportunity to look back on the main developments of the association.
Just one year after the founding of EUROSOLAR the journal Solarzeitalter was launched. In the quarterly journal current energy policies and the latest findings from science and practice of renewable energy are presented and discussed.
In 1994, the German and European Solar Prizes were awarded for the first time. In annual ceremonies exemplary role models in dealing with the energy transition are being honored.
EUROSOLAR organizes numerous symposia and conferences on various energy related issues. For instance in 2006 two new conference series were started: the conference series "Public Utilities with Renewable Energy" was first organized in Schwäbisch Hall. That same year Hermann Scheer founded the International Renewable Energy Storage Conference (IRES) which is the meeting place for researchers and visitors to exchange information on the latest developments and advances in storage technologies.
In August 2013, EUROSOLAR took the occasion of the 25th birthday to publish the documentary "25 Years of EUROSOLAR". The documentation shows successes and obstacles on the way to the energy transition. It is available for download here.
We would like to use this opportunity to thank our members, supporters and our voluntary board members for supporting EUROSOLAR in its independent and critical work towards a completely decentralized energy system with only renewable energies. Together with you we are working for the right impulses for the energy transition in Germany, Europe and beyond. We are looking forward to the challenges ahead and fruitful cooperation in the future.
