2012 marked the seventh consecutive year of IRES, the successful International Renewable Energy Storage Conference, continued by EUROSOLAR and the WCRE, in cooperation with EnergieAgentur.NRW and numerous additional partners.

Industry experts acknowledge IRES as having become the central platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas on one of the key issues for the future of energy supply. IRES 2012 attracted large attendance, with 600 experts from Germany and 40 other countries.

The IRES 2011 attracted attendance from more than 40 countries with 600 attendees and repeated the success of the previous year.

Directed by scientific conference chair Professor Dirk Uwe Sauer (RWTH Aachen University) experts from Germany and abroad discussed the technologies, available and in development, for storing energy generated from renewable resources at the Berlin Congress Center bcc for three days. Alongside around 100 presentations, the participants engaged in a lively exchange on the rapid advance of energy storage technology worldwide. The CD-ROM of the IRES 2011 contains more than 2,000 pages of material and gives you a profound insight into the matter.

IRES, the 4th international EUROSOLAR-technology conference, according to all participants, provided an overview on the advances in the storage of energy generated from renewable sources. Nearly 400 experts from 22 countries discussed about the technological options of storing energy from the renewable source at the Berlin Representation of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia on 24 and 25 November 2009. The conference attracted record attendance and was being held, as in previous years, in association with EnergyAgency.NRW.

In October 2006, EUROSOLAR and the World Council for Renewable Energy started the first of a new international conference series themed "International Renewable Energy Storage Conference" (IRES). It is intended to contribute to the developments in energy storage and to publicize their application. The third conference in Berlin on 24-25 November 2008 was a huge success.

In about 40 presentations, IRES II embraced the current status of energy storage technologies, as well as other new research and industry approaches to electricity and heat storage, alongside such integrated solutions eliminating or minimizing the need for additional storage.
