Successful conclusion of the Final Preparatory Conference on the Foundation of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Madrid

At the Final Preparatory Conference for the establishment of IRENA on October 23 and 24 in Madrid, 51 states reached a broad agreement on the statute of the international governmental agency. "The path is now cleared for the Founding Conference of IRENA on January 26, 2009 in Bonn", announced Hermann Scheer, member of the German parliament. Hermann Scheer, as president of EUROSOLAR and General Chairman of the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE), has been advocating the establishment of IRENA both in Germany and at the international level since early 1990.

Conference: Experts from twelve countries inform about the variety of technologies available for the storage of renewable energy 

EUROSOLAR and the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE) invite to the Third International Renewable Energy Storage Conference that will take place in the German capital Berlin, November 24-25, 2008. In the representation of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia international experts will discuss the possibilities and still impossibilities for storing energy gained from renewable sources. The event takes place in cooperation with the German Federal Environment Ministry and the EnergyAgency.NRW,  the service provider of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in all energy matters.

Renewable energy and wind energy in particular are decentralised forms of energy generation. Taking this into account, this conference has demonstrated in an impressive way the key role that community power has played, has to play and will play in the acceleration of wind energy deployment worldwide.

In this light, we are very proud to announce that the Board of the World Wind Energy Association has decided to give the World Wind Energy Award 2008 for the initiation and support of community wind energy in Europe, North America and worldwide.
