Press release, Berlin/Bonn, 3 December 2011 Twelve winners from eight countries were presented with this year's European Solar Prize in Berlin on 2 December 2011. The award ceremony was held at the Berlin branch of KfW Bankengruppe. Words of commendation were said by Jo Leinen, Member of the European Parliament.
In their welcome speeches Dr Axel Nawrath, Member of the KfW Executive Board, and Prof Peter Droege, President of EUROSOLAR, emphasized the diverse range of ideas and practical applications the recipients used to exemplary effect on the deployment of renewable energy. The annual European Solar Prize is handed out by EUROSOLAR, the European Association for Renewable Energy, in cooperation with KfW Bankengruppe. |

The European Solar Prize Awards 2011 will be presented by EUROSOLAR, the European Association for Renewable Energy, in cooperation with KfW Bankengruppe. This year's winners come from Germany, Bulgaria, Denmark, Italy, Austria, Spain, Turkey and Switzerland.
The award ceremony will take place at the Berlin branch of KfW Bankengruppe on 2 December, 18:00. Dr Axel Nawrath, Member of the KfW Executive Board and Professor Peter Droege, President of EUROSOLAR, will welcome the attendees. The battery and storage technology conference has meanwhile become the industry’s natural meeting place to discuss and share insights into one of the key issues of future energy supply. The organizers expect a number of more than 600 attendees from around the world again this year. It will be held at the Berlin Congress Center for the first time. |

EUROSOLAR announces 2011 European Solar Prize
EUROSOLAR, in cooperation with KfW-Bankengruppe, will celebrate innovation, creativity and outstanding contribution to renewable energy applications and their dissemination through the annual European Solar Prize again this year. In light of the high number of requests in this regard we are pleased to confirm that we have extended the deadline for entries by one week. EUROSOLAR accepts applications and proposals until 8 July 2011. The winners will be honoured at a ceremonious event at the end of the year.

From among the Assembly delegates nine Vice-Presidents were elected. Dr Hermann Scheer founder and long-time President of EUROSOLAR was posthumously named President Emeritus.
