Extraordinary projects, initiatives and individuals will be honoured for work for renewable energy

EUROSOLAR, the registered European Association for Renewable Energy will award the 2009 European Solar Prize at the Berlin branch of KfW Bankengruppe on 11th December 2009. Erik Bettermann, Director General of Deutsche Welle, will deliver the laudation. EUROSOLAR President and recipient of the Right Livelihood Award Dr Hermann Scheer will present the prizes to the winners.

The 2009 European Solar Prize is given in seven subject categories:
– Towns/municipalities, council districts, municipal utilities
– Industrial and commercial companies or farmers
– Owners or users of installations utilizing renewable energy
– Local or regional associations promoting renewable energy projects
– Media
– One-world cooperation
– Special achievement prize for outstanding individual commitment

Created by EUROSOLAR in 1994, the European Solar Prizes have since rewarded towns, companies, individuals and organisations every year for outstanding service rendered to the utilization and applications of renewable energy in all its available forms. The recipients are celebrated for outstanding projects, initiatives and innovation.
