"The EUROSOLAR & WCRE Red Faces Awards"

(C) KfW-Bankengruppe | Raum 11, Michalko"The EUROSOLAR & WCRE Red Faces Awards"
Presented at the European Solar Prize award ceremony 2012 - Excerpts of Peter Droege's opening speech

On 7 December 2012 EUROSOLAR has awarded the European Solar Prizes for the 19th time. After so many years and productive initiatives the question arises: why haven't we achieved a renewable energy society yet, why is the world still mired in a cacophony of calls for nuclear renaissances and new fossil fuel golden ages? For each 'positive matter' in the energy field there is also still countervailing 'negative antimatter' - dark failure in the guise of good intentions. This is what slows the world down.

Awards are regularly given for excellence. Rarely is the 'worst' recognized in international awards. The Red Faces Awards are designed to change all this. The renewable energy revolution, under way for three decades, is being stumped and derailed by errors, illusions and dark forces. EUROSOLAR and the WCRE have declared the Renewable Energy Decade (RED) - and this is this years series of RED FACES awards - for high follies slowing the progress to a sustainable, renewable world.
