Promoted by Eurosolar Italia jointly with UIA/ARES and the Board of Architects P.P.C. of Rome and Province, was held in Rome, Italy 19 - 20 May 2011, as the preparatory event for the XXIV UIA World Conference

The Rome International Conference aimed to draw the attention to the challenge that Architecture and Urban Planning have to face in the path towards the environmental and economical sustainability. The emerging need for zero energy and sustainable architecture make necessary a new planning and design process, giving to the achitect the new role of "integrator" of different kinds of techniques, technologies and knowledge. The event discussed and presented some selected design experiences of sustainable architecture and urban planning.
