Due to the recent significant increase in the number of people infected with SARS-CoV-2, especially in north rhine westphalia, this year's IRES conference will be postponed.
The stabilization of the global climate has moved to the first page of all economic journals and daily newspapers in recent months. On 11 December 2019, the EU Commission under Mrs von der Leyen presented a broadly supported 'Green Deal', which aims to make the continent climate neutral by 2050 through, among other things, a fundamentally new economic and energy technology orientation. The fact is that much more needs to happen to stop global warming.
The conversion of energy systems is an indispensable prerequisite for this, and both the massively increasing technological supply and rapidly falling prices of distributed renewable resources, efficiency systems and energy storage systems ideally position us for this. The development and systemic integration of storage systems plays a key role here. They are the key to linking energy supply and energy consumption across sectors and at low cost. Energy Storage Europe makes a significant contribution with its trade fair and the 9th ESE Conference as well as the 14th IRES Conference.
Look forward to exciting discussions and new insights! Here you can order your conference ticket. The tickets include the admission to the exhibition as well as the conferences ENERGY STORAGE EUROPE and IRES on the dates stated on the ticket.
The overarching theme for 2020 is "climate protection" and the contribution that storage systems make to this. On the first day (March 10, 2020), the key notes from representatives of the EU Commission and the World Bank will deal with the political framework, while in the session "the CEO's View" industry representatives such as Bosch CEO Dr. Christian Fischer will discuss how climate protection and business can be combined .
Contributions such as the Key Note by Dr. Volker Hille, Salzgitter AG, for the production of "green steel" , but also contributions to the decarbonization of industry and trade in the "Decarbonization Hub" at the trade fair and in the Forum show how climate protection requires efforts to reduce CO2 emissions - through the consistent use of renewable energies - and how this works in industry. To achieve all this, a change in the energy system is needed, driven by innovation and the development of energy storage technologies .
In 2020, the IRES and ESE components of the conference complement each other ideally: While ESE focuses on business models, best practices and markets, the IRES sessions of EUROSOLAR will focus on research & development in the fields of thermal storage, battery storage, other electrical storage, chemical storage and power-to-x technologies and will also present their combination and optimized use in energy systems at the world's largest scientific storage conference.
The program will be complemented by accompanying workshops of the ESE-association BVES on questions of standardization/testing, legal conditions for storage and standardization processes. EUROSOLAR will make important contributions to the European outlook and to the transformation towards a completely renewable energy system and the market framework necessary for comprehensive climate protection.
The deadline has been extended until 14th February 2020!
You are hereby cordially invited to submit an abstract for the 2020 conference via our submission platform until 1st February 2020 14st February 2020 for poster presentation.
Full papers can be submitted until March 10, 2020 for the IRES 2020 conference proceedings, to be fully refereed and published in EUROSOLAR’s scientific open accsess journal, published through Atlantis Press. There is an additional option to also submit advanced papers in the Journal of Energy Storage (Elsevier).
