Thanks to the great effort of the Spanish section of EUROSOLAR, the award winners will be honored in a celebratory event in Barcelona this year. The European Solar Prize will be handed out on Friday, 18 November 2016 in cooperation with the Spanish section of EUROSOLAR and Barcelona City Council in the historical buildings of 'Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau'.

The event will start with a guided tour to the sustainable buildings, showing the innovations in energy efficiency in the former hospital. In addition to the award presentation, an exciting framework program on the topics 'Policy and vision for an energy transition' and 'Moving towards energy democracy' will be presented by an international panel. Afterwards, a get-together allows award winners and guests to mingle and exchange ideas and information. English-Spanish simultaneous translation will be provided.   • Apply now for the European Solar Prize 2018

    The European Solar Prize of EUROSOLAR enters the next round! Applications and proposals can be submitted until 31 May.

    The call for entries, which takes place in different prize categories, is addressed to decentralized actors of the energy transition who, by means of innovation and commitment, point the way in the right direction. Cities, municipalities, architects, communal and private companies, associations, organizations and cooperatives, journalists and, of course, citizens who actively support the energy transition can apply.

    All entries will be submitted to a qualified jury. Participation is free of charge. Applications can be submitted quickly and easily online:

    On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of EUROSOLAR, this year's prize winners will be honoured in the EUROSOLAR home town of Bonn. The award ceremony takes place on Saturday, 17 November 2018, at Kunstmuseum Bonn.

  • European Solar Prize 2017 awarded to ten laureates in Vienna

    Having previously been held in Rome, Prague and Barcelona this year’s edition of the European Solar Prize has been awarded in Vienna together with EUROSOLAR Austria. On 18th November ten nominees from ten different countries have been honored in celebratory event at the venue of Technical University Vienna (TU the Sky). The innovative projects and the outstanding commitment in the field of renewable energies were presented via movies, interviews and presentations to the audience.

  • About the European Solar Prize

    The European Solar Prize Award was established in 1994 by EUROSOLAR in cooperation with its national sections. It has since been handed out every year to towns and municipalities, community businesses, associations or organizations, architects, journalists and individuals for their extraordinary accomplishments and significant contributions to the use and expansion of renewable energy in Europe. With the Solar Prize EUROSOLAR recognizes outstanding commitment to renewable energy.

    The prize is given to make pioneers and leaders the focus of public attention all over Europe and to give fresh impetus to a renewable energy-based and decentralized energy turnaround. It honors outstanding and innovative projects and initiatives from all parts of society. At the end of each year the award winners are celebrated at a festive gathering in different European countries.
